General Information

A Bit About My Work

Artist Style

I have my own style of painting, just as all artists do! Please know I am not able to replicate another artist’s style for a commissioned faceup and will not copy other faceups directly. However, I’m happy to use reference images as inspiration if desired!

Imperfections

I will always try to give you exactly what you ask for, but my work is not perfect, nor is the work of any other artist. Dust in sealant cannot be 100% avoided and my painting will not be symmetrical. All heads are inspected prior to shipping to prevent any large issues from being missed.

Pet Allergies

Due to allergies, I’d like to disclose that I do have a dog. She comes and goes within our home, so a stray hair or two may end up in a box at times. Please do not commission me if you are heavily allergic to pet hair or have other concerns on this part.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a custom commission right for you?

Commissioning custom work is an investment in your collection. These services are tailored for collectors who value unique artistry and collaborative design.

  1. You have a specific vision: You know exactly what you want, down to the expression and color palette, and need an artist to execute it.
  2. You appreciate the process: You enjoy collaborating with an artist and understand that quality custom work takes time and patience.
  3. You need restoration or updates: You have an older doll that needs a fresh faceup or a completely new aesthetic direction.
What materials do you use?

I always use high quality materials that are vibrant, pigmented and safe for all dolls. Below is a general, yet not exhaustive, list of what I tend to use for each commission.

  • Sealant: Mr. Super Clear UV Flat, ZM Finishing Powder Spray, Liquitex Matte Medium/Varnish
  • Pastels: Schmincke, Sennelier
  • Watercolor Pencils: Faber Castell and Derwent
  • Paints: Golden soft body
  • Gloss: Liquitex Acrylic Gloss Varnish, Tamiya X-22
  • Shimmer: Pearl Ex Pigments, ZM Shine Pearl, mica powders, loose glitters
  • Removal: Pure acetone (resin & vinyl), acetone/dye free nailpolish remover (ABS, PVC and hard plastic)
  • Brushes/Tools: Soft hair brushes, cotton swabs (both regular and pointed), cotton balls, Magic Erasers
  • Modifications: Milliput (additive epoxy sculpt), Elmer’s white school glue, hand drill with different bit sizes, electric dremel
Do you work on recast dolls?

I am an anti-recast collector and customizer. Please do not ask me to paint recasts. I have a zero-tolerance policy with this issue.

What are your current wait times?

My wait times vary depending on the project and my full-time job. Basic faceups can take 6-8 weeks, depending on changes within the mockup process. Additional services add to that time. Please let me know if you have a deadline to make and I will see what I can do.

Do you provide mockups with every commission?

All faceup commissions receive a mockup after any cleaning or color matching is completed. However, I don’t offer mockups for any other services unless otherwise requested.

How many changes can I make to mockups?

I allow up to 3 change periods for each mockup in order to keep wait times shorter, so please compile all changes you wish to be made in as few replies as possible.

How will my doll be shipped back to me?

I package all dolls that are sent to me in fresh boxes unless a large or branded doll box is sent with your commission. All dolls are packaged with proper protection and padding.

I use USPS or UPS to ship, depending on cost and shipping destination.

Do you offer face protectors?

All commissions that do not include a face protector will be charged an extra $2 so I can include one on the return trip. If you need help on packing your doll for shipping, check this page.

Do you take commissions from people outside the United States?

I take commissions from anywhere in the world. However, please note that shipping to and from me will be more expensive. I will mark your package however you wish for customs but I take no responsibility for any missing packages or damages if you choose to alter the value or mark as a gift. Along with shipping costs, I am not responsible for any customs taxes or charges of any sort.

Do you take final photos, and can I repost them?

By commissioning me, you are giving me permission to photograph your doll and post any photos taken on my personal social media accounts and website. Credit to you as the owner will always be given. Feel free to use any photos I take for your personal use, but please do not remove my logo.

Do I need to include a wig/eyes/etc?

Eyes are not required but are recommended for final photos! I may also use my own eyes in photos if you do not provide your own. These are purely for promotional/final photo use only. If you wish to use specific eyes/wigs/etc. in photos, feel free to include them with your commission.
